The Reichstag Fire
Now that Hitler had some sort of power they could start to put out their agenda with the use of propaganda. To do this however, something would need to happen. This "something" needed to be a big event that could be blamed on their political opponents and limit the freedom in Germany. This event was the Reichstag fire. The Reichstag was the parliament building at the time, which on February 27th, 1933 would burst into flames, causing fire damage throughout the building. To this day, people still argue who caused the fire at the Reichstag. Many believe it was the Nazi's themselves in a sort of "false flag terror attack" to gain what they needed. This information, being who actually started the fire, isn't necessary in explaining how the Nazi's were able to get a kick start to their propaganda machine. We can instead look at what the Nazi's did after the fire and how they reacted to it in order to understand just how important this event was to the Nazi takeover and propaganda distribution.
